The Nigeria Police Force has successfully extradited a Nigerian fugitive, Abubakar Aboki Muhammed, from the United Arab Emirates over a $307,500 fraud case. The extradition, facilitated through INTERPOL NCB Abuja, was completed on Friday, May 23, according to a statement by police spokesperson ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi.
According to the statement, the suspect had been wanted following a July 2023 report by an international businessman based in Abuja, who alleged he was defrauded by Muhammed under the guise of being a shipping agent. The suspect reportedly secured a contract to ship ten high-end vehicles from the UAE to Nigeria but instead diverted the funds.
Investigations revealed that Muhammed received the entire payment via a third-party FCMB account owned by one Anas Usaini in Kano. The funds were allegedly used for money laundering operations in Dubai. He also issued a forged bill of lading before disappearing.

The police confirmed that Muhammed was apprehended by Dubai authorities on April 15, 2025, and returned to Nigeria to face charges at the Federal High Court. This case marks a significant milestone in the Nigeria Police Force's ongoing war against transnational financial crime.
The statement also commended the collaboration between the Dubai Police, INTERPOL NCB Abu Dhabi, and the Nigerian Consulate in Dubai for their vital roles in the extradition process. The NPF reaffirmed its commitment to international law enforcement cooperation to track and prosecute criminals who commit cross-border fraud.
