The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has busted a syndicate posing as free healthcare missionaries in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
According to NAFDAC's South-South Director Chukwuma Oligbu, the group distributed unregistered products including "Evangelist Jenkins Supernatural Water" and fake eye drops claiming to cure cancer, fibroids, and glaucoma. A middle-aged woman, Mrs. Gladys Theophilus, was arrested during Friday's raid at Abuloma Town Hall.
"Some victims reported swollen eyes after using these dangerous products," Oligbu revealed. "The fake doctor assured them this meant the 'drugs were working.'"
NAFDAC evacuated the counterfeit items and is pursuing other fleeing suspects. The agency warns Nigerians against patronizing unregistered medical providers.
