One Rescued, Others Trapped as Building Under Construction Collapses in Mushin Lagos

Building collapse in Idi-Araba Mushin Lagos with victims trapped beneath rubble

A building collapse has been reported in the Idi-Araba area of Mushin, Lagos State, leaving several individuals trapped beneath the rubble.

The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon and involved a one-storey structure that was still under construction. Confirming the situation, the spokesman for the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Services, Shakiru Amodu, said that emergency response teams are already on site.

“So far, a male adult has been rescued, and efforts are ongoing to reach other victims still trapped under the debris,” Amodu told reporters.

He added that the collapsed structure was a one-storey building under construction, although the total number of trapped individuals has yet to be determined. Search and rescue operations are being coordinated by officials from the fire service, LASEMA, and other emergency agencies.

Incidents of building collapse continue to raise concerns in Lagos, especially in densely populated areas like Mushin. While causes are yet to be officially stated, poor structural integrity and construction negligence have been recurring issues in similar cases.

Residents have been urged to stay clear of the area while rescue efforts continue.
