They Did It for Buhari, and Today Tinubu Is the Enemy – Seyi Law Fires Back at P-Square

Comedian and actor Seyi Law has addressed the backlash over his political stance, calling out music duo P-Square for what he described as selective criticism of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking during a recent sit-down on the Teju Babyface Deep Dive podcast, Seyi Law expressed his displeasure at how some entertainers have shifted their narratives to suit current sentiments.

In his words, “These same people were on stage celebrating Buhari in 2015. They danced and performed when he was inaugurated. Today, they turn around and say Tinubu is the enemy. They did it for Buhari, and today Tinubu is the enemy.”

He pointed out what he sees as inconsistency and political double standards within the entertainment space. According to him, many who criticize Tinubu now were once supporters of the APC government under Buhari.

Seyi Law, a known supporter of President Bola Tinubu, said he stands by his decision during the 2023 elections. He added that even if the APC had presented a different candidate like Yemi Osinbajo, those against the party would have still used Buhari’s past leadership against him.

“If APC had brought Osinbajo, you would still have used the badge of Buhari to defeat him,” he said.

The comedian emphasized that while everyone has a right to their political choice, it is unfair for people to twist narratives and act like they were never part of the same system they now criticize.

His comments have since sparked fresh debate across social media, especially among fans and critics of Nigerian entertainers involved in politics.
