Valencia CF captain José Luis Gayà has etched his name into the club’s history books by making his 372nd official appearance, drawing level with Carlos Arroyo and securing a spot among the top 10 players with the most appearances for the club.

Gayà, who debuted for the first team on October 30, 2012, in a Copa del Rey match against Llagostera, has been a consistent presence in the squad for 13 seasons. His appearances span across various competitions: 307 in La Liga, 18 in the Champions League, 34 in the Copa del Rey, 11 in the Europa League, and 2 in the Spanish Super Cup.

In the recent match against RCD Espanyol, which ended in a 1-1 draw, Gayà nearly marked his milestone with a winning goal, only to be denied by a remarkable save from goalkeeper Joan García.

Currently, only five players have more La Liga appearances for Valencia than Gayà: Fernando Gómez (420), Ricardo Arias (377), David Albelda (351), Manolo Mestre (323), and Miguel Ángel Angulo (313). With five league matches remaining this season, Gayà has the opportunity to surpass Angulo’s tally.

Gayà’s dedication to Valencia CF is evident not only in his on-field performances but also in his loyalty to the club. Despite receiving lucrative offers from other top clubs, including Real Madrid, he chose to remain with Valencia, signing a contract extension in 2022 that keeps him at the club until 2027.

As Valencia CF continues its campaign, fans and teammates alike look to Gayà’s leadership and commitment as a driving force for the team’s aspirations.
