Brazilian football superstar Neymar Jr.’s much-anticipated return to Santos FC ended in heartbreak as he suffered a fresh injury just 34 minutes into the match. The 33-year-old forward, who had been sidelined due to a torn ACL and meniscus injury sustained in October 2023, was visibly emotional as he was stretchered off the field at Vila Belmiro Stadium.

Neymar’s comeback was highly anticipated by fans and the football community, marking his first start for Santos in the Brazilian Serie A since his departure over a decade ago. The match began with optimism as Santos took a 2-0 lead; however, the atmosphere quickly shifted when Neymar signaled discomfort and was subsequently replaced by Benjamin Rollheiser.

This latest setback adds to a series of injuries that have plagued Neymar’s career, including a challenging stint at Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia, where he was limited to just seven appearances over 18 months due to recurring injuries.

Medical assessments are underway to determine the severity of the injury and the expected recovery timeline. Fans and analysts alike are expressing concern over Neymar’s future in professional football, given the frequency and impact of his injuries.
