In a distressing revelation, Emir Umoru Seriki of Yashikira in Baruten Local Government Area, Kwara State, has voiced serious concerns about the emergence of a new terrorist group named 'Mahmuda'.

According to the Emir, this group is actively occupying regions within the Kwara North Senatorial District and extending into the Borgu Kingdom of Niger State.

The Emir expressed frustration over the lack of attention from authorities despite previous complaints. He highlighted a recent attack where a security vehicle, funded by the local community for vigilante operations, was bombed by the terrorists.

While the vigilantes survived, some sustained injuries. Contrary to social media reports of 15 vigilante deaths, the Emir clarified that while there were casualties, the number was not as high.

However, the Kwara State Police Command has refuted claims of the group's existence and the reported casualties. SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi stated that thorough assessments and surveillance have shown no evidence of insurgent activities or mass casualties in the mentioned areas. The police urge the public to avoid spreading unverified information that could incite panic.

Despite official denials, the Emir insists that the threat is real and calls for immediate action to protect the affected communities.
