Abia State Police Command has apprehended a rogue tricycle operator who made away with a female passenger's valuables worth over ₦300,000. The suspect, identified as Chikaobi Nwafor, was captured after a 72-hour manhunt when he attempted to sell the stolen items at a local market.

The incident occurred in Umuahia when the victim, a businesswoman, boarded what appeared to be a regular Keke ride. "He diverted from the route, threatened me with a knife, and took my phone, laptop, and week's sales proceeds," the traumatized victim recounted. Police tracking the device's IMEI led to the arrest.

This case highlights growing safety concerns about commercial tricycle transportation in Nigerian cities. The Abia CP has announced new rider registration measures, warning that "the era of anonymous Keke operators is over."
