Super Eagles forward Victor Boniface made a historic mark in the UEFA Champions League as his first goal secured Bayer Leverkusen’s 1-0 victory over AC Milan on Tuesday.

Boniface’s quick reaction to a rebound in the 51st minute earned Xabi Alonso's side three crucial points, continuing their unbeaten run in this year’s competition.

Leverkusen, runners-up in the Europa League last season, have dominated Europe’s top stage, winning both of their group-stage matches without conceding a goal.

The win leaves AC Milan struggling with back-to-back losses in the Champions League after their defeat to Liverpool.

Boniface thought he had opened his account earlier in the match, only for his goal to be ruled offside by VAR.

Despite this, Leverkusen’s control of the game saw them push past Milan’s defense, with Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong proving instrumental in attack.

AC Milan tried to respond late in the game, but their efforts couldn’t match the intensity of Leverkusen’s strong defense.
