The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has officially discredited a viral social media story alleging the killing of one of its corps members by bandits during a journey from Kaduna to Katsina for the monthly biometric clearance.

In an official statement signed by Eddy Megwa, the Director of Press and Public Relations at NYSC, the organization asserted that the circulated story is baseless and concocted, intended solely to stir unnecessary unrest among the public.

The statement provided clarification that the mentioned corps member, Mamudo Sa’idu Obaje (registration number KT/23B/1153), was actively serving at Government Girls’ College, Katsina.

It further elucidated that on the specified date, Mamudo Sa’idu Obaje was in transit from Kaduna to Katsina and unfortunately became involved in a motor accident at Gayaza in Kankia LGA of Katsina State, resulting in the tragic loss of lives, including the corps member.

Expressing deep sympathy, the NYSC management extended condolences to the family of Mamudo Sa’idu Obaje, emphasizing that he met his untimely demise while faithfully serving his nation.
