Students Commence Second Term as Schools Reopen After Christmas Break

Today marks the resumption of primary and secondary schools across several states in the country, as students return for the second term following the Christmas and New Year holidays. Parents are gearing up to pay fees for the new term, with many already making arrangements.

Pastor Samuel, a Lagos resident, shared, "My children are resuming tomorrow. Everyone is planning to pay second-term fees, and I have already taken care of my children’s fees." He also noted a potential increase in transport fares, anticipating a rush for vehicles.

Observations on Sunday afternoon in Lagos revealed many children with luggage boarding vehicles at various bus stops, mentioning their destinations as Ogun, Oyo, and others.

In Kano State, the government has approved Monday, January 8, 2024, for the resumption of academic activities in primary and post-primary schools for the second term. Boarding schools in the state were expected to resume on Sunday, January 7. The Public Enlightenment Director in the Ministry of Education, Kano, Balarabe Abdullahi, highlighted government efforts, including the renovation of Girls Child’s Education School buses, to ensure smooth transportation for pupils.

Expressing appreciation for the cooperation and support received, Abdullahi emphasized the government's commitment to positive changes in the state's primary and secondary education system. The ministry extended well-wishes for a successful second term to teachers, students, and pupils, pledging continued monitoring to ensure staff punctuality and efficiency.
