Man Arrested for Distributing Woman's Private Media on Social Media

Chinedu Ezeudu, a resident of Ndi Ikpa village in the Ezinato community, Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State, has been apprehended for allegedly disseminating nude pictures and videos of a woman via social media.

The man stands accused of exposing these materials after his attempts to extort money from the victim through blackmail proved unsuccessful.

Reportedly, the individual sold explicit videos of the young woman to individuals who expressed interest in obtaining them, charging a fee of N3,000.

Following the victim's report to the Office of the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Children's Welfare, Mrs. Ify Obinabo, the Anambra State Police Command promptly arrested the suspect.

According to Miss Chidinma Ikeanyionwu, the media aide of the commissioner, the victim disclosed that she had lost her memory card in March 2023. However, in June, she was contacted by the suspect, who demanded a substantial sum of money to prevent the dissemination of the explicit videos.

Upon her refusal to comply, the suspect resorted to threats of sharing the videos on various social media platforms. The victim's husband confronted the suspect, instructing him to delete the video, but the suspect had already made duplicates.

The suspect proceeded to release the videos on Facebook, WhatsApp, and other social media platforms, even selling them to interested parties.

Ikeanyionwu stated, "Upon the victim's report to the Office of the Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare in Anambra State, accompanied by Hon Ejike Okechukwu, the suspect was swiftly apprehended by the Anambra State Police Command."

The suspect is presently in police custody and will face charges before the Children, Sexual, and Gender-Based Violence Court in Awka once the investigation is concluded.
