75-year-elderly man arrested for allegedly defiling niece in Nasarawa
The Nasarawa State Police Command on Sunday said its agents in the Obi Local Government Region of the state arrested a 75-year-elderly man, Isa Okpoku, for allegedly defiling his four-year-old niece.
The state Police Public Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel, in an explanation on Sunday, said a protest with regards to this issue was stopped at the Obi Divisional Police headquarters on Saturday.
Nansel said, “Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect and his niece were both residents in the same house, thus he lured the victim into his room and wilfully had unlawful carnal knowledge of her.
“The victim was, however, rushed to a hospital for medical examination where a doctor confirmed that the hymen was broken.”
The PPRO added that the Commissioner of Police, Maiyaki Baba, had requested a far reaching examination concerning the matter, after which, the suspect would be charged.
