Gov Obaseki wants to destroy our party - factional APC leaders

A faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State loyal to the National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, on Sunday accused Governor Godwin Obaseki of working hard to destroy the party.

The faction said the governor has tactically left the party.

It urged President Muhammadu Buhari to call Obaseki to order before he creates anarchy in the state.

Factional chairman Col. David Imuse (rtd) and Secretary Lawrence Okah, in a statement in Abuja, accused the governor of providing a meeting ground for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the Government House in Benin.

They said Obaseki has rejected all peace moves, adding that even if Jesus was to head another committee, the governor would also reject it.

The leaders accused him of doing everything to frustrate the party’s reconciliation efforts.

The statement said the APC in the state was not surprised at the reported rejection on the Reconciliation Committee headed by the Senate President.

The faction said the governor had rejected similar peace moves in the past but wondered why it was only the Edo governor that was rejecting a national reconciliation committee.

The Imuse-led faction said it welcomed the reconciliation committee set up after the last APC National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting.

The APC faction said the party’s National Working Committee ( NWC) also set up a peace committee headed by the Kano State Governor, but Obaseki allegedly went to court to restrain it.
