Meta's new personal artificial intelligence agent, Muse, is trending across business and technology outlets following its official release on iOS, Android, web (muse.ai), and WhatsApp.
The app represents Meta's foray into "agentic AI"—systems capable of performing real-world actions rather than just generating text:
- Autonomous Account Action: Powered by Meta's Muse Spark model, Muse connects directly to personal accounts (Gmail, Spotify, OpenTable, Peloton, Google Workspace) to autonomously fill forms, schedule calendar events, book travel, and purchase tickets.
- Integrated Payment Processing: Muse incorporates Link built by Stripe to execute checkouts using dynamic, single-use card numbers without exposing user passwords or real financial credentials.
- Sentinel Security & Privacy Debate: The app uses a dedicated virtual machine architecture and a secondary Sentinel AI to request explicit user approval before executing high-risk or financial actions. However, early reports regarding privacy guardrails and account access permissions have spurred widespread tech policy debate.
