Why Is Adeleke EFCC Suit Withdrawal Trending?

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke is trending across national political and legal news desks following his decision to officially instruct the state Attorney-General to withdraw the lawsuit filed against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The legal confrontation began after the EFCC placed a "Post No Debit" restriction on Osun State government bank accounts as part of an investigation into the alleged mismanagement of roughly ₦11 billion in Ecology Funds and statutory allocations.

Governor Adeleke initially filed a suit challenging the restriction, labeling it politically motivated and detrimental to state operations.

Speaking during a live broadcast on Channels Television shortly after securing his re-election victory, Governor Adeleke announced he was dropping all charges.

He explained that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu personally intervened in the dispute and instructed the EFCC to lift the account restrictions and resolve the matter administratively.

Adeleke praised the President's swift intervention, stating that with the restrictions removed and the issue resolved, there was no longer any need to pursue legal action against the anti-graft agency.
