Arsenal midfielder Ethan Nwaneri is pushing for a departure from the club prior to the close of the summer transfer window after being left out of Mikel Arteta's squad for Sunday's FA Community Shield fixture against Manchester City.
The 19-year-old player, who spent the second half of the 2025–26 campaign on loan at Ligue 1 side Olympique Marseille, is seeking regular first-team football following a challenging year.
Nwaneri originally broke into the national spotlight in 2022 as the youngest player in Premier League history, later establishing a regular role during the 2024–25 season where he recorded 37 appearances across all competitions and earned a PFA Young Player of the Year nomination.

However, after registering just six Premier League appearances in the first half of last season, he was sent on loan to Marseille, where he managed nine appearances.
Although Arteta publicly noted that Nwaneri returned from France with added maturity, the manager acknowledged prior to the Community Shield that the midfielder could depart if a suitable resolution is reached for his long-term development.
"I want him to remain at the club. However, we must consider the medium and long-term implications." — Mikel Arteta, Arsenal Manager
