Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has described Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara as the ultimate casualty of the ongoing political crisis in the state, claiming the governor has squandered his chance of securing a second term.
Speaking during a media chat in Port Harcourt on Saturday, Wike stated that Fubara allowed himself to be misled by incompetent advisers who encouraged open confrontation rather than political compromise.
Wike pointed to Fubara's inability to retain the loyalty of a single member out of the 29-member Rivers State House of Assembly and his failure to superintend over valid local government elections as evidence that he lost control of the state's political structure.

Wike argued that political power requires strategic compromise, noting that while impeachment is a constitutional tool, leaders must weigh their options in the interest of peace.
He maintained that despite his earlier willingness to support Fubara's second term upon completing major infrastructure projects like the Ring Road, the governor's handling of the conflict effectively ended those prospects.
