LaLiga President Javier Tebas has called on FIFA President Gianni Infantino to step down from his position following a failed attempt to sell private investment stakes in the FIFA World Cup and other major international competitions.
Posting on his official X account over the weekend, Tebas asserted that Infantino's withdrawal of the privatization plan does not resolve underlying governance issues within world football's governing body.
The proposal, which sought to allow private investors to buy equity in a new commercial entity managing FIFA's tournament operations, was abandoned on Saturday after intense backlash, including a boycott threat from UEFA and strong opposition across regional confederations.

Tebas urged member associations, confederations, and leagues not to treat the matter as settled, emphasizing that fundamental structural reform remains necessary to safeguard the sport's administrative integrity.
