Former Vice President and African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has raised an alarm over an unsolicited money transfer into one of his private bank accounts, characterizing the incident as part of an emerging political intimidation plot ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In an official statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku disclosed that an unidentified individual deposited funds into his private account with the transaction narration "Contribution Electioneering Campaign."
Atiku’s campaign team clarified that neither the former Vice President nor his election committee requested, authorized, or possessed prior knowledge regarding the transaction or the sender.

Describing the occurrence as deeply troubling, Atiku questioned how confidential details of a non-public, private bank account were obtained by unknown parties, alleging that privileged access by unauthorized persons constitutes a major privacy breach and an abuse of official power.
Atiku warned that the unauthorized exposure of private banking data creates severe security risks, exposing citizens to extortion, kidnapping, and financial fraud.
While calling on security agencies to conduct a thorough investigation, Atiku maintained that he remains focused on his presidential aspirations and will not be derailed by attempts at character assassination.
