Pressure is mounting on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, as opposition political parties and civil society leaders demand his resignation or immediate sack following the freezing of the Osun State Government's statutory allocation account.
The anti-graft agency imposed a "Post No Bill" restriction on the state's account on Wednesday over alleged money laundering investigations.
However, President Bola Tinubu publicly reversed the decision on Thursday, describing the timing—just days before the August 15 Osun governorship election—as inauspicious and embarrassing.

Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, Accord Party National Chairman Maxwell Mgbudem declared that the party had lost confidence in the EFCC leadership, accusing Olukoyede of demonstrating partisan bias and bringing the anti-graft agency into disrepute.
Similar calls were made by New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP) National Chairman Major Agbo and Obidient Movement National Coordinator Dr. Yunusa Tanko, who both noted that the public reversal severely undermined the commission's operational independence.
Public reaction across social media platforms has been equally fierce, generating thousands of comments criticizing both the commission and the Federal Government.
While some legal observers argue the EFCC acted within its statutory mandate under Section 34 of the EFCC Act, opposition parties insist that Olukoyede must step down to restore public trust in the country's anti-corruption framework.
