The Abia State Police Command has taken a woman, Sara Innocent, into custody following the fatal stabbing of her husband, Innocent Nwaoji, during a domestic dispute in the Obingwa Local Government Area.
The tragedy took place on Saturday night, August 8, 2026, in Umuokereke Ngwa.
According to a statement issued by the state Police Public Relations Officer, Maureen Chinaka, the Ohuru Isimiri Police Divisional Headquarters received a report of the incident on August 9.
"Mrs. Sara Innocent of Ohuru Isimiri Village allegedly stabbed her husband in the chest with a kitchen knife during a misunderstanding. The victim was rushed to the hospital, where he was confirmed dead by a medical doctor." — Maureen Chinaka, Abia PPRO
Police confirmed the suspect is in custody, the crime scene has been examined, and an investigation is underway at the State Criminal Investigation Department.
Reports indicate the couple had been married for eight months following their wedding in December 2025.
