Troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force North-West (Operation FANSAN YAMMA), collaborating with personnel from the Nigeria Police Force, have rescued 33 abducted passengers in the Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The successful rescue operation was triggered by credible intelligence received regarding the abduction of commuters along the Magazu axis.
According to Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja, Media Information Officer for Operation FANSAN YAMMA, security forces rapidly mobilized to the scene and engaged the armed bandits in a gun duel as they attempted to move the victims into nearby bushes.
Overwhelmed by superior firepower, the terrorists fled, allowing troops to secure all 33 passengers unhurt without recording any operational casualties.
"The troops engaged the terrorists with effective fire, forcing them to abandon the victims and flee into adjoining bushes. The troops then secured and rescued all 33 abducted persons." — Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja, Media Information Officer, JTF North-West
