Prince Harry Leaves Meghan, Archie, and Lilibet in California Over Safety Feuds

The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, alongside her young children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, will officially bypass Prince Harry’s upcoming diplomatic visit to London next week due to a protracted, bitter standoff with the UK government regarding their official police protection.

The Duke of Sussex originally planned to bring his entire young family across the Atlantic for the five-day trip, which primarily marks the critical one-year countdown to the prestigious 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham.

However, deep anxieties regarding family safety forced a total itinerary cancellation after the Royal and VIP Executive Committee (RAVEC) firmly declined his legal team's official request for state-funded police escorts within the British capital.

"Prince Harry’s programme in the United Kingdom includes both public and private engagements across the country. Safe accommodation is only one element of an effective protective security plan because risk follows the person, not the place. The issue has never been accommodation.

The issue is whether appropriate and proportionate protective security is being provided throughout the entirety of the visit," an official spokesperson representing the Sussexes released in a stern brief.

The royal household clarified that while full police protection is routinely guaranteed to anyone staying inside an active royal estate, Harry's team remains highly critical of the independent Risk Management Board's systemic delay in evaluating personal threats.

The legal row stems back to 2020 when the couple stepped away from official duties to achieve financial autonomy in California, a transition that cost them their automatic taxpayer-funded security details.

While a packed schedule previously prevented King Charles from visiting his grandchildren during his recent official tour of Washington D.C., many had hoped this UK visit would spark a family reconciliation—a prospect now indefinitely delayed by ongoing legal friction.
