Three Arrested After 71-Year-Old C&S Church Leader Dies In Ondo Hotel

The Ondo State Police Command has launched a comprehensive investigation into the mysterious death of Elder Omotayo Ezekiel Fajana, a 71-year-old senior member of the Cherubim and Seraphim (C&S) Church, whose body was discovered inside a hotel room in Akungba-Akoko, Akoko South-West Local Government Area.

The prominent cleric had traveled to the community to attend an important ecclesiastical convention where he was scheduled to be officially installed as the Head Prayer Warrior Father (Baba Aladura) of the Ogo Orimolade C&S Church in Okerigbo.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer for the state command, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, disclosed that detectives have already taken three individuals into custody to assist with ongoing inquiries.

Preliminary findings by the police have raised immediate concerns regarding the highly unusual manner in which the situation was handled by individuals present at the scene, specifically concerning the immediate relocation of the cleric's remains to a mortuary before a medical professional could legally certify the death.

The police spokesperson detailed that the case was formally logged at the Akungba Division by a relative of the deceased, Mr. Olaseni Sunday Olaoluwa.

Investigations indicate that following the discovery of the lifeless body in the lodging facility, church officials and hotel staff jointly transported the remains to a morgue in Ikare-Akoko without notifying regulatory or law enforcement authorities.

State Commissioner of Police Felix Ohagwu has ordered a discreet and thorough probe into the matter, assuring the public that any individual found culpable of foul play or procedural obstruction will face full prosecution under the law.
