The Oyo State House of Assembly has firmly rejected all suggestions and external pressures urging the state government to open financial or diplomatic negotiations with the armed bandits responsible for the coordinated school abductions at Ahoro-Esiele in the Oriire Local Government Area.
The legislative block came to this unyielding resolution on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, immediately following its resumption from the Eid-el-Kabir recess.
The assembly instead directed the executive arm to collaborate with federal defense agencies to mount an intensified, aggressive tactical rescue operation inside vulnerable forest corridors to secure the immediate, safe release of all captive teachers, students, and pupils.
The motion, brought forward under matters of urgent public importance by the lawmaker representing Oriire State Constituency, Johnson Ogundele, painted a grim picture of escalating banditry.

Ogundele reminded the floor that the brutal May 15, 2026, attack on the Ahoro-Esiele, Oyo, and Yawota border communities had resulted in the public execution of a teacher, a student, and a commercial motorcyclist before dozens of schoolchildren were forcefully marched into the bush.
Seconding the motion, Majority Leader Sanjo Adedoyin renewed structural calls for the constitutional creation of state police, arguing that the Western Nigeria Security Network Agency (Amotekun Corps) is currently constrained by structural weaponry deficits when navigating dense terrains.
Expressing extreme concern, lawmaker Dawood Olalere noted that kidnapping networks are aggressively expanding from deep forests into semi-urban areas, citing the fresh abduction of the sister of former Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, alongside her two young sons earlier on Wednesday morning.
Speaker Adebo Ogundoyin formally sustained the assembly's decision, warning that entering negotiations with terrorists would heavily embolden criminal cells and catalyze subsequent school invasions across the region.
