The Kogi State Police Command has launched a comprehensive criminal investigation to uncover the sinister circumstances surrounding the gruesome death of Sarah Idoko, a final-year female student of the Federal University Lokoja (FULokoja), whose lifeless body was discovered dumped along the busy Lokoja-Abuja Highway.
The horrific discovery occurred on Saturday night near the notorious Crusher area along the Felele axis of Lokoja, a major transport gateway that has long been a focal point for security vulnerabilities in the state capital.
Eyewitness accounts from local commuters indicated that an unidentified vehicle pulled up briefly by the dark shoulder of the highway at approximately 8:00 p.m. before speeding away into the night, leaving passers-by to discover the body and immediately alert regional patrolling teams.

While initial field reports falsely categorized the deceased as a Higher National Diploma (HND) student of the Kogi State Polytechnic based on an institutional identity card recovered within the vicinity, the state Commissioner of Police, CP Naziru Kankarofi, officially corrected the record, validating her enrollment status at the Federal University Lokoja.
Reacting strongly to the tragedy, the Association of Nigerian Female Students (ANFS), Kogi State Chapter, through a fiery statement signed by its coordinator, Celina James, vehemently condemned the murder as cruel and entirely unacceptable.
The student body called for an absolute fortification of security grids around university perimeter lines, even as CP Kankarofi reiterated the police force's unyielding commitment to tracking down the hit-and-run assailants and delivering comprehensive justice for the victim's family.
