Opposition factions are facing deep logistical blockades, raising international and domestic flags over the systematic constriction of civic spaces and the alleged deployment of state apparatus to weaken frontline challengers.
For major political coalitions, the tactical response is shifting away from standard campaigning toward rigorous, ground-level anti-rigging strategies to protect voting outcomes.
According to Channels TV online, the Senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has strongly demanded the immediate and unconditional release of detained Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members in Ekiti State.
Speaking dynamically to a massive crowd of supporters during a high-profile solidarity rally in Ado-Ekiti, Akpoti-Uduaghan severely condemned the rising wave of political intimidation, labeling it a direct existential threat to democratic integrity ahead of the upcoming Saturday poll.
The lawmaker asserted that politics must be practiced on the strength of well-written manifestos rather than bitter coercion and state-sponsored hostility.
The campaign rally itself faced severe logistical challenges, with opposition leaders accusing the state government of deliberately denying the PDP access to public facilities and grounding major public transportation networks across the capital to lower attendance.
Despite these structural disruptions, thousands of enthusiastic supporters trekked long distances on foot to pack the venue.
Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan confirmed that after touring several local government areas, she observed an organic, deep-seated public connection to the party's candidate, confidently predicting an absolute victory for the umbrella coalition at the upcoming June 28, 2026 election.
Standing alongside her, the PDP gubernatorial candidate, Dr. Bisi Kolawole, dismissed the ongoing security crackdown, stating that his campaign is fully prepared to liberate Ekiti from three years of absolute administrative failure.
Kolawole, who is making his third major run for the state's top seat, noted that the current government is extremely unpopular, emphasizing that electoral manipulation only succeeds when a party possesses a baseline of public popularity.
He concluded that his structure has kept its eyes and ears open to completely block every potential loophole for rigging, promising to aggressively prioritize wealth creation, agrarian revitalization, and independent entrepreneurial growth to break Ekiti's total dependence on monthly federal allocations.
