The Ogun State Police Command has successfully arrested three suspects directly linked to the brutal murder of Ms. Kitan Oyesiku, a former broadcaster with the Ogun State-owned television station (OGTV), and her 38-year-old security guard, Pelumi Adetayo.
The victims were discovered dead in an extremely gruesome state at her private residence situated in the Owode-Egba axis of the Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State. Parading the suspects at the State Police Headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, revealed that the heinous crime was solved via aggressive intelligence gathering, forensic analysis, and advanced technical tracking operations.
According to the police command, a formal distress report was initially received at the Owode-Egba Police Station on June 21, 2026, at approximately 4:00 PM, indicating highly suspicious circumstances at the broadcaster’s compound.
Arriving at the scene, police operatives found the front door of the main house partially broken, while the security house was locked from the outside. Inside, Ms. Oyesiku was discovered lying lifelessly in a massive pool of blood in her living room, while her guard was found dead inside the security outpost.
Forensic experts scientifically processed the crime scene and quickly established that a Lexus RX 330 SUV belonging to the deceased broadcaster had been stolen from the compound, pointing heavily to an armed robbery and double homicide.
The breakthroughs in the investigation multiplied when detectives successfully traced and recovered the missing Lexus SUV on June 22 in the Onikolobo area of Ogun State. Though the perpetrators had detached the registration plates and hidden them underneath one of the seats, forensic technicians matched the chassis numbers.
Furthermore, detectives recovered a handwritten note left behind by the killers at the scene of the crime. The note was subjected to comprehensive forensic examination, yielding critical investigative leads that directly pointed to a 22-year-old construction laborer, Sodeinde Olajuwon Philip.
Philip, who was tracked down and arrested on June 24 at a building site in Ibara GRA, Abeokuta, turned out to be a disgruntled former security guard previously employed by the deceased broadcaster.
During intense police interrogation, Philip made a full confessional statement, admitting that he masterminded and coordinated the violent assault because of lingering grievances over low wages and unfulfilled financial demands.
He confessed to recruiting two accomplices to help execute the crime: Sakirudeen Abdulraheem Ayoola, a 27-year-old security guard, and Sobu Obafunsho, a 36-year-old bricklayer.
The suspects carried out the deadly attack on Saturday, June 20, 2026, first overpowering the active security guard, Pelumi Adetayo, and using him to gain forceful entry into the main building where they brutally murdered Ms. Oyesiku using a hammer, a cutlass, and heavy wooden planks.
While asserting that the suspects will remain entitled to due process under Nigerian law, CP Ojajuni assured the public that diligent prosecution will follow once investigations are fully completed.
