Stella Maris Okafor, the widow of the late iconic Nollywood actor John Okafor (popularly known as Mr Ibu), has vigorously debunked circulating allegations that she secretly disposed of her late husband’s properties to pocket the monetary proceeds.
Speaking in a candid interview with digital content creator King Mitchy, Stella Maris labeled the rumors as entirely false and malicious, clarifying that the sale of the asset was fully backed by a legal court order.
To reinforce her stance, she displayed official documentation proving that the transactions were executed transparently with the absolute knowledge, presence, and written consent of Mr Ibu’s two adult sons, Valentine Okafor and Daniel Okafor.
The widow's public statement follows recent disclosures by the actor's extended family regarding their ongoing financial hardships after his passing.
Stella Maris emphasized that she did not act unilaterally or under the cover of darkness. Instead, she stressed that every stage of the real estate transaction was heavily documented to satisfy the court's specifications.
Beyond the property dispute, she revealed that she currently sustains her household through an online jewelry enterprise—a venture her late husband had initially discouraged during her earlier years when she worked alongside him as an actress in the Nigerian film industry.
"I have to show you this document. This is a court order. We—I didn’t, not me alone. My husband’s two sons, Valentine Okafor and Daniel Okafor, and I did it according to the court order," Stella Maris stated. "Every evidence is here. We sold the house. I am not the one that sold the house."
Furthermore, Stella Maris disclosed immediate plans to move out of her current residence, describing the rent as far too exorbitant for her current financial realities.
She explained that she only relocated to the high-security neighborhood due to extreme public pressure, intense scrutiny, and safety fears that emerged immediately after her husband's death.
Addressing separate claims by a young man online who alleged he was Mr Ibu's biological son and was denied inheritance, the widow counter-alleged that deep-seated financial greed tore the family apart shortly after the burial.
She claimed that extended family members aggressively pressured her to distribute cash donations given to her by sympathizers during the funeral, which she firmly rejected to safeguard the welfare of her young children.
