A horrific automobile accident along the Girei-Song Local Government Area corridor of Adamawa State has claimed the lives of six individuals, including four serving members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and a military personnel.
The fatal disaster occurred on Wednesday afternoon, June 3, 2026, at approximately 1:50 p.m. near the Narehi axis, sending shockwaves through both the national youth service community and the Nigerian military.
Confirming the devastating incident on Wednesday evening, the spokesperson for the Adamawa State Police Command, SP Suleiman Nguroje, disclosed that the accident involved a head-on collision between a military gun truck traveling from Gombi toward Yola and a commercial Toyota Hummer bus conveying five passengers from Yola to Mubi.

The impact caused the commercial bus to flip over repeatedly before instantaneously bursting into a violent fireball. Tragically, all five occupants locked inside the Hummer bus were burnt beyond recognition.
Preliminary forensic and identity card recovery operations conducted by law enforcement confirmed that four of the deceased were active NYSC members deployed to Adamawa State, with three identified as Suleiman Juliet and Usman Shuaibu—both indigenes of Kaduna State—alongside Hafsat Hassan.
One military personnel stationed on the gun truck also sustained fatal injuries and passed away.
Police operatives and emergency medical responders have evacuated the remains to the Specialist Hospital in Yola, while the State Command works in tandem with the NYSC directorate to formally map out the identities of the remaining victims and establish contact with their grieving families.
