The minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has cleared the air regarding the 2027 governorship race in Rivers State, stating he has not endorsed any candidate.
During a media chat in Abuja, Wike revealed that any decision on a successor would only be made after his "Rainbow Coalition"—comprising loyalists from both the PDP and APC—reaches a joint agreement.
The rift between Wike and his successor, Governor Siminalayi Fubara, appears wider than ever. Wike accused Fubara of being "too smart" and failing to honor the peace agreement brokered by President Bola Tinubu.

“You know that we and Fubara are not working,” Wike stated bluntly, adding that his team is currently strategizing to protect their political structures in the oil-rich state.
