A Federal High Court sitting in Effurun, Delta State, has ordered controversial social media personality VeryDarkMan to pay N30 million in damages to Mrs. Esinjemiyotan Uruneyonjuyei Atsepoyi, wife of comedian Mr Jollof.
The ruling follows a defamation lawsuit filed after VeryDarkMan accused her in September 2024 of engaging in extra-marital affairs with politicians to secure her husband’s political appointment.
Justice R. Harriman, in a judgment delivered on May 13, 2026, held that the claims were defamatory and that the defendant failed to provide any evidence to support them.

The court awarded N20 million in general damages and N10 million in aggravated damages.
Furthermore, the judge issued a 14-day ultimatum for VeryDarkMan to publish a retraction and a formal apology across his social media handles and in two national daily newspapers.
According to Qubes Magazine, the court also placed a permanent injunction on VeryDarkMan, restraining him or his agents from making any further defamatory publications against the claimant.
Justice Harriman emphasized that given the wide dissemination of the harmful content, a public apology was necessary to restore Mrs. Atsepoyi's reputation.
