The Kogi State Government has confirmed the successful rescue of all victims abducted from the Daarul-Kitab Islamic Orphanage in Lokoja.
The final nine victims, including the proprietor’s wife and several pupils, were freed during a coordinated operation in the early hours of Wednesday in the Agbaja Forest axis.
The rescue was led by troops of the 12 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, supported by other security agencies.
This follows the initial recovery of 15 victims on April 27, shortly after gunmen attacked the facility on April 26.

Commissioner for Information, Kingsley Fanwo, stated that the rescued group—comprising five boys, two girls, and two adult females—has been moved to a military medical facility for care.
Governor Ahmed Ododo expressed his gratitude to President Bola Tinubu and the security heads for their unwavering support.
“This successful operation underscores our determination to ensure that criminal elements have no foothold in Kogi,” the governor said.
According to Qubes Magazine, the state has recently intensified its "zero-tolerance" policy on kidnapping, focusing on forest-clearing operations to dislodge bandit hideouts.
