The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) has confirmed that two of its employees remain in the custody of kidnappers six days after being abducted.
The staff members were reportedly snatched on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, while performing their official duties.
In a statement released on Monday, the management of IBEDC expressed deep concern for the safety of their colleagues. "IBEDC is working closely with relevant security agencies to ensure their safe return.
We are also in active engagement with their families, providing the necessary support," the company stated.
Due to the sensitive nature of the negotiations, the company has withheld the identities of the victims.
Contradicting the company’s report, the Ogun State Police Command has denied that the incident occurred within its jurisdiction. DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the state PPRO, told Punch Metro that the command has no record of such an abduction.
According to Qubes Magazine research online, the conflicting reports between corporate organizations and police commands are a recurring issue in kidnapping cases, often stemming from jurisdictional disputes or late reporting to the authorities.
