The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has formally declared the former minister of humanitarian affairs, disaster management, and social development, Sadiya Umar Farouq, wanted.
The anti-graft agency published the notice on Saturday, May 9, 2026, following her repeated failure to appear for arraignment before a Federal Capital Territory High Court.
Farouq, 52, is facing a 21-count charge bordering on criminal conspiracy, abuse of office, and the diversion of public funds during her tenure under the Buhari administration.

According to the EFCC, the investigation centers on an alleged ₦37 billion fraud. The commission also obtained an arrest warrant against the former minister and the ministry’s permanent secretary, Bashir Nura Alkali.
According to Qubes Magazine, the EFCC has urged anyone with information regarding her whereabouts to contact their nearest office.
Farouq, an indigene of Zamfara State, was last known to reside in the Maitama area of Abuja.
The case marks a significant step in the ongoing probe into social intervention program funds allegedly converted for personal use.
