The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has officially zoned its 2027 presidential ticket to Southern Nigeria for a single four-year term.
This landmark decision was reached during the party’s National Convention in Abuja on Saturday, following a motion moved by Hon. Afam Victor Ogene.
The resolution further specifies that the ticket will automatically rotate to the North after the completion of the four-year Southern mandate.

This development clears the path for former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi to contest under the party's platform.
Obi, along with former Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso, recently defected to the NDC from the ADC and the NNPP, respectively.
The influx of high-profile politicians and 17 House of Representatives members has positioned the NDC as a formidable force ahead of the 2027 elections.
According to Qubes Magazine, the convention was characterized by a massive turnout of supporters, leading to significant traffic gridlock in the capital.
Party leaders, including Seriake Dickson, have hailed the move as a major step toward "national renewal" and providing a credible alternative to the current administration.
