Mavin Records boss Don Jazzy has revealed that his 2014 hit single ‘Dorobucci’ was born out of a playful persona he adopted during Tiwa Savage’s wedding in Dubai.
Speaking on the Crea8torium podcast, the legendary producer explained that he often introduces himself with Italian-sounding names when dressed in a suit, leading him to tell guests his name was "Don Dorobucci."
The name became a running joke among the wedding guests, including Tiwa Savage herself. Upon seeing the name gain traction through an Instagram freestyle he posted, Don Jazzy witnessed a viral dance challenge emerge in Nigeria.

Seizing the momentum, he returned home and assembled the Mavin crew to record the full track.
According to Qubes Magazine, the song featured the powerhouse lineup of Tiwa Savage, Dr SID, D’Prince, Reekado Banks, Korede Bello, and Di’Ja.
Over a decade later, the track remains a staple of Afrobeats culture, proving that a spontaneous moment of humor can lead to one of the most played songs in Nigerian history.
