First Approval Confirmed as Trump’s $1 Million ‘Gold Card’ Visa Programme Gains Momentum
The Donald Trump administration has officially approved the first beneficiary of its controversial "Gold Card" residency programme.
The scheme, which allows wealthy individuals to obtain U.S. residency in exchange for a $1 million financial contribution, was introduced via executive order in late 2025 to attract high-net-worth investors and reduce the national deficit.
U.S. Commerce Chief Howard Lutnick confirmed to a congressional committee that hundreds of applicants are currently in the queue.
Beyond the $1 million individual fee, corporate-sponsored applications are priced at $2 million, with an additional $15,000 processing fee required for vetting.
This initiative is part of a broader, more aggressive immigration policy that includes a $100,000 annual surcharge on H-1B skilled worker visas and increased deportation efforts.
