Rangers Shortlist Nigeria International Ryan Alebiosu to Replace Outgoing Captain James Tavernier

Scottish giants Rangers have identified Super Eagles defender Ryan Alebiosu as the primary candidate to succeed club legend James Tavernier.

With Tavernier set to depart Ibrox at the end of the season after an iconic 11-year stint, the Gers are looking for a right-back with the same offensive flair and athleticism.

The 24-year-old Alebiosu is no stranger to Scottish football, having previously impressed during loan spells at Kilmarnock and St Mirren.

Currently with Blackburn Rovers, the Nigeria international has enjoyed a standout season in the Championship, recording one goal and five assists in 40 appearances.

Alebiosu’s rising profile was recently cemented by his inclusion in Nigeria’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) squad, making him a high-value target for the Glasgow club.
