Laycon Reveals He Lost His Inner Voice After BBNaija Victory, Rediscovered It in December 2021

Laycon BBNaija winner inner voice lost The Icons Fest concert personal reflection mental health

Reality TV star and rapper Olamilekan Agbeleshebioba, popularly known as Laycon, has opened up about a deeply personal struggle following his Big Brother Naija victory in 2020 — the loss of his inner voice.

In a reflective video shared online, the former BBNaija winner described the disorienting experience of suddenly finding himself unable to hear his own thoughts amid the whirlwind of fame and public attention that followed his triumph.

"Has the world ever gone silent on you and all you have left was your own thoughts?" Laycon asked his audience, setting the stage for his revelation.

"I have been there and I want to share a part of that experience with you. After I won Big Brother Naija in 2020, I lost my inner voice and the first time I heard that voice again was December 2021 after my sold-out concert, The Icons Fest," the rapper disclosed.

The period between his victory and the concert represented a challenging phase where external noise seemingly drowned out internal reflection. Laycon described how, when his inner voice finally returned, it came with probing questions that demanded honest answers.

"The voice kept asking me questions like, 'Is this really how you want to live? Are you enjoying yourself? What's next after this? Are you happy?' Questions that made me want to sit alone with my thoughts," he recounted.

Rather than avoid these uncomfortable inquiries, Laycon embraced them. "So, that's what I did. From that conversation came a lot of necessary but uncomfortable truths and realisation about myself," he added.

The rapper emphasized the critical role of silence and solitude in personal growth, noting that such moments allow individuals to reflect on their thoughts and make necessary adjustments to their lives.

He urged his fans to prioritize self-reflection, describing it as a form of personal accountability that can lead to greater self-awareness and fulfillment.

Laycon's candid revelation has resonated with many fans who admire his willingness to discuss the psychological challenges that can accompany sudden fame. His journey from losing to rediscovering his inner voice offers a powerful reminder of the importance of staying connected to oneself amid external pressures.

Since his BBNaija win, Laycon has built a successful music career and remains one of the most recognizable personalities to emerge from the reality show. His willingness to address mental health and self-reflection adds depth to his public persona beyond entertainment.
