Insecurity: APC Governors Demand High-Tech Investment and Intelligence Boost

APC Governors meeting at Eko Signature Lagos for security and economic talks 2026.

The Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) has formally called for a massive increase in funding for security technology, intelligence gathering, and infrastructure to combat the rising wave of insecurity across Nigeria.

The forum, which consists of governors elected under the All Progressives Congress (APC), emphasized that a unified front between the federal and state governments is essential for sustainable national development.

During a strategic meeting held on Sunday, March 22, 2026, at Eko Signature in Lagos, the governors deliberated on how to turn ongoing national reforms into visible improvements for Nigerians.

According to a report by Channels TV, the governors had earlier visited President Bola Tinubu to discuss economic renewal, social welfare, and the necessity of cooperative federalism.

The governors praised the President's approach to national coordination and international partnerships in the fight against crime.

However, they insisted that peace requires more than just military power. In a communique released after the session, the Forum stated:

“The Forum called for sustained investment in intelligence, coordination, technology, border vigilance, and community-based early warning systems. Members also emphasized that enduring peace requires not only force of law, but also trust in institutions, opportunity for young people, and a social ethic that rejects violence as a means of grievance.”

The PGF also noted that global economic pressures, including the ongoing Gulf conflict, could affect food prices at home.

To counter this, they pledged to align state-level agriculture and energy projects with federal priorities.

The meeting concluded with a reaffirmation of loyalty to the APC, with the governors urging Nigerians to remain patient and hopeful in the democratic process.
