Gunmen have abducted two residents of Ora-Igbomina, a community on the Osun-Kwara boundary, in the latest kidnapping incident to hit the area. The abduction occurred around 11:45 p.m. on Sunday at a private residence along Aran-Orin Road.
According to residents, the assailants shot into the air before dragging the victims—identified as Tayese Adeyeye and Sunday Adewumi—into the bush. This attack comes less than two months after a former Customs officer, Emmanuel Owolabi, was kidnapped in the same community in December 2025 and later released after a ransom was paid.
A resident, Mulikat, told The Punch, “We heard gunshots around 11:30pm. The abductors went into a house along Aran Orin road and picked up the two men. Some men ran after the perpetrators but they could not follow them into the bush.”
Osun State Police Public Relations Officer Abiodun Ojelabi confirmed the incident, stating that a search and rescue operation is underway. He explained that police patrol teams had temporarily returned to base due to rain when the abduction occurred.
