Ghanaian Women Demand Arrest of Russian Blogger Over Secret Smart Glass Recordings

Russian tourist Vyacheslav Trahov Yaytseslav Meta smart glasses privacy scandal Ghana

A major privacy scandal is rocking Ghana’s tourism sector as women take to social media to demand the arrest of a Russian TikToker accused of using high-tech spy glasses to record intimate moments without consent.

The content creator, identified as Vyacheslav Trahov (known online as Yaytseslav), is at the center of an online firestorm. Allegations suggest he exploited wearable technology during his stay in Accra to secretly film Ghanaian women, later sharing the explicit content on TikTok and Telegram.

According to widespread reports circulating on Ghanaian social media, Trahov’s alleged modus operandi involved approaching women at popular locations like the Accra Mall. After striking up conversations and obtaining their phone numbers, he would reportedly invite them back to his residence.

It was there that the alleged privacy violations occurred. Sources indicate that Trahov used a pair of Meta smart glasses—wearable eyewear valued at approximately GH₵4,000 that allows for discreet, hands-free recording—to film the encounters. The victims were allegedly unaware they were being recorded, believing the interactions to be private.

“He passed through my village and I counted about 41 motorcycles, with two or three persons on each,” a Zagatina resident recounted. Following the assault on Tungan Makeri, the bandits allegedly moved to Konkoso. On Wednesday morning, they reportedly attacked the town, setting the local police station ablaze with no visible security presence to stop them.

Critics and angry citizens claim the footage captured was deeply personal and intimate. The subsequent uploading of this content to his social media channels has sparked outrage, with many calling it a gross violation of privacy and digital rights.

The situation has escalated into a national conversation about safety and technology. Many women are now turning to the government for intervention. There is a growing chorus of voices urging the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, alongside Ghanaian security agencies, to launch an immediate investigation. The demand is clear: locate and arrest the Russian national to prevent further violations and protect the integrity of Ghana’s hospitality.

The incident serves as a stark warning about the dangers of hidden technology and has cast a shadow over Accra’s social scene. As the story trends online, many are awaiting an official response from the authorities regarding the status of the blogger and the safety of the alleged victims.
