Viral 19-Year-Old Waste Seller Gets N8m, Full Scholarship After Touching Story

Samuel Adeniyi viral waste seller Nigeria scholarship donation N8m happy

Samuel Adeniyi, the 19-year-old Nigerian who went viral for selling plastic waste to buy tiling tools, has been gifted a full educational scholarship and donations exceeding N8 million. The life-changing turn of fortune came after content creator Bayuztv shared his inspiring story online.

In the emotional video, Samuel was seen carrying a sack of waste, explaining his determination to raise funds. “I need money to buy my work tool. Tiling work, I learnt it at 17... I need a cutting machine, a mallet, and a knife. I make N1,000 to N2,000 from a sack that I bring here,” he told the interviewer.

Moved by his story, Bayuztv initially provided him with a new phone, a tiling cutting machine, N50,000, and essential items like clothes and a haircut. The creator then visited Samuel's mother, who revealed the family's deeper struggles and her desire to restart her failed palm oil business with N200,000-N300,000.

In a follow-up video, the interviewer presented Samuel's mother with N1 million in cash and took her shopping for about N700,000 worth of foodstuffs. He then delivered the staggering news to the family. “Your boy has gotten over N8 million in donations and scholarships from secondary school to university level,” Bayuztv announced.

The mother and son broke down in tears, rolling on the floor in disbelief and gratitude for the overwhelming support from compassionate Nigerians. The scholarships ensure Samuel's education is secured from secondary school through to a university degree.
