American boxing star Terence Crawford has announced his retirement from professional boxing at the age of 38, ending his career with an unbeaten 42-0 record. Crawford, a five-weight world champion, also became the only fighter in the four-belt era to hold undisputed titles in three different weight classes.
The announcement comes three months after Crawford delivered a masterclass against Canelo Alvarez at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, securing the undisputed super-middleweight titles and completing his historic three-division conquest.
Taking to social media, Crawford reflected on his career, stating, “Walking away as a great with nothing else left to prove.” Sharing a video recap of his achievements, he added, “I’m stepping away from competition, not because I’m done fighting, but because I’ve won a different type of battle. The one where you walk away on your own terms.”
Crawford’s career includes notable victories over top-tier opponents such as Shawn Porter, Amir Khan, and Kell Brook, stopping each of them. He emphasized that his journey in the sport was fueled by personal motivations: “This sport gave me everything. I fought for my family. I fought for the city. His retirement follows recent news that he was stripped of the WBC super-middleweight title due to a failure to pay a required sanctioning fee, but Crawford insisted his decision was about leaving on his own terms rather than external factors.
