The Anambra State Police Command has recovered firearms, a vehicle and suspected stolen cash amounting to ₦636,700 following a shoot-out with fleeing criminals in Abagana, Njikoka Local Government Area of the state.
The recovery was confirmed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga. According to the statement, the items were recovered by operatives attached to the Commissioner of Police Special Patrol Team during an offensive security operation.
Ikenga disclosed that the operation took place at about 5:00 pm on December 16, 2025, when police operatives engaged suspected criminals during a routine patrol. The suspects reportedly fled after their operational vehicle was involved in an accident while being pursued by the police.
Items recovered from the abandoned vehicle include one pump-action rifle, one locally fabricated single-barrel rifle, an ash-coloured Toyota Highlander with registration number UWN 680 PE, suspected stolen cash of ₦636,700, and other incriminating materials.

“The recovery followed the abandonment of the suspects’ operational vehicle after it was involved in an accident during a hot pursuit by operatives,” the statement read.
The police spokesperson noted that although the suspects escaped during the encounter, they are currently being tracked using intelligence-led operations aimed at effecting their arrest.
“The suspects are currently being tracked, and intelligence-led operations have been intensified to ensure their arrest. Further developments will be communicated in due course,” Ikenga said.
He reassured residents of Anambra State of the command’s continued commitment to proactive policing and the protection of lives and property across the state.
The Anambra State Police Command said it would sustain aggressive patrols and intelligence-driven operations to curb criminal activities across the state.
