The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested two suspected motorcycle thieves, Isaac Audu and Jamilu Yusuf, following an alleged armed robbery incident in Nasarawa town.


The arrest was confirmed in a statement issued on Sunday by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Ramhan Nansel, who said the suspects allegedly robbed a resident of his motorcycle while armed with a locally fabricated firearm.


According to the police, the incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, December 20, 2025, at about 1:00 a.m., in the Foundation Area behind the Federal Polytechnic Staff School**, Nasarawa.


“Preliminary investigation revealed that on December 20, 2025, at about 0010 hours, the suspects, armed with a locally fabricated firearm, attacked a resident of the Foundation Area and dispossessed him of an unregistered Bajaj motorcycle,” Nansel stated.


He explained that the police received timely information from members of the public, which enabled operatives to swiftly track and apprehend the suspects.


“Nemesis caught up with the suspects following timely information received by the police, which led to their trail and subsequent arrest,” he added.


During the arrest, police operatives recovered one locally fabricated firearm allegedly used in the operation, as well as the stolen Bajaj motorcycle, which were taken into custody as exhibits.


Nansel noted that the suspects are currently undergoing further investigation and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the probe.


The spokesperson also conveyed assurances from the Commissioner of Police, Shetima Jauro Mohammed, that the command remains committed to maintaining law and order, especially during the Yuletide season.


“The Commissioner of Police has assured residents of the command’s commitment to ensuring a peaceful and secure Christmas celebration,” the statement added.


The Nasarawa State Police Command has intensified its clampdown on criminal elements across the state, recording several arrests as part of ongoing security operations.
