Troops of the 12 Brigade, Nigerian Army, have rescued six people who were kidnapped in the Ejiba and Saminaka Forest areas of Yagba East and Yagba West Local Government Areas in Kogi State.
According to Leadership News on Tuesday 2 December, 2025, Lieutenant Hassan Abdullahi, Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations for 12 Brigade, said the rescue was part of ongoing operations against banditry and kidnapping in the state. Troops, supported by a Nigeria Police helicopter, carried out air and ground patrols to locate the victims.
He explained that the kidnapped victims were intercepted at Patrol Base Ejiba in Yagba West. Five of the rescued persons have been debriefed and reunited with their families in Egbe and Ejiba communities. The sixth victim was receiving medical attention due to health issues observed at the time of rescue.
Lt. Abdullahi added that the operation is part of sustained efforts to eliminate criminal activities and improve security in Kogi State. He reassured the public of the Army’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property.
He further stated that troops will continue to dominate forests and known criminal hideouts to prevent kidnappers and bandits from carrying out attacks.
The Nigerian Army urged residents to remain vigilant while promising continued operations to keep the state safe.
