Kenyan authorities have arrested three Nigerian nationals in a targeted multi-agency raid, dismantling a suspected cyber fraud ring operating from an apartment in Mwaliko Estate, Mwea Town.
According to a report by Kenyan digital news platform Tuko News, the suspects were apprehended on Wednesday by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI). The arrested individuals have been identified as Peter Chukwujekwu, Alazor Chukulute Sunday, and Nnalue Chiagozie Samwe.
The operation was launched after vigilant members of the public raised the alarm over suspicious late-night activities emanating from the suspects' residence. The DCI confirmed the arrests in an official statement, noting it was part of a “multi-agency raid targeting a cyber fraud ring” in the Kirinyaga area.

“A well-coordinated multi-agency raid in Mwaliko Estate within Mwea town has blown the lid off a suspected cyber fraud ring operated by three Nigerian nationals,” the DCI was quoted as saying. Investigations further revealed that the trio, who claimed to be running an online business, were living in Kenya illegally without valid work permits.
This incident is not an isolated case. It adds to a growing list of Nigerians being apprehended in Kenya for cybercrime. In a strikingly similar operation in June 2023, Kenyan police arrested 19 Nigerians in Nairobi for engaging in electronic fraud targeting Kenyan citizens.
At the time, the DCI detailed their method of operation, stating, “The fraudsters start by befriending you on social media (Facebook), and once you accept the friend request, they initiate a friendly chat that promises the victim goodies to be sent through DHL at the airport.” This pattern of using social engineering to defraud unsuspecting victims continues to be a significant challenge for authorities, leading to increased scrutiny and international police cooperation.
